All hospital staff including doctors, nurses, ward boys, housekeeping, and laboratory personnel receive regular training on BMW segregation, safe handling, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures for accidental exposure. Training records are maintained and refresher training is conducted periodically as per NABH requirements and BMW rules.

Do's: Always segregate waste at point of generation. Use correct colour coded bags. Wear PPE while handling BMW. Never overfill bags beyond 3/4 capacity. Report needle-stick injuries immediately.

Don'ts: Never mix different categories of BMW. Never recap needles by hand. Never leave BMW unattended in patient areas. Never dispose of sharps in yellow or red bags. Never allow unauthorised persons to handle BMW.
